This invention is what I call the most clever and ingenius invention created in its time. Created in 2800 B.C. by the legendary emperor Huang Hi, it was useful in a time of war when the enemy had made a smoke screen. Using the south pointing chariot, it was used to get the emperor and his men out of the smoke with reliability.
The way the chariot is constructed is with a model of a man pointing to the direction South. This man is put on top of a bar connected to a series of gears, so when the chariot is turned a certain number of degrees, lets say West, the man will rotate so that it is still pointing south. (Fig. 1.1) Like I said, very clever.
