A Roman Legionary's Equipment



The Roman army had very different types of military equipment than our modern 21st century equipment. Each soldier would carry up to 70lbs. of armor on their backs while marching thousands of miles across the Roman Empire. Roman soldiers had a basic red underlying tunic, for red was the color that represent Rome, called a tunica in Latin. As a visual project, I chose to use a model and dress him up in what Roman armor would have looked like around 100 A.D.
